.SE supports development of the Internet

.SE (The Internet Infrastructure Foundation) shall in accordance with its foundation charter work for a positive development of the Internet in Sweden. Therefore the top-level domain .se finance Internet development in different ways.

.SE´s Internet Fund

.SE’s Internet Fund is a way of financing Internet development by supporting independent projects. The projects that .SE finance have to fulfil certain criterias, as below, but shall also contribute with use for .SE. This use can be either as an input to .SE´s own development of products and services, as Public Relations activities or by further development of the Swedish domain name market.

The Internet Fund has since its inception in 2004 financed around 100 Internet development projects. To read more about earlier commissions please see the table of contents to the left. The budget for .SE’s Internet Fund is set annually by .SE’s Board of Directors.

Evaluation criterias

Project proposals come from the general public via the public application procedure as you can read more about under the headline “How to apply” below. From applications received .SE´s Evaluation Committee selects projects deemed most likely to achieve .SE’s goals. The final decision about which projects will be awarded funding is taken by .SE’s CEO and the Board of Directors.

They are evaluated according to given criterias like:

• Spreading power

The Evaluation Committee

The Evaluation Committee is composed of:

.SE’s decisions about which projects to commission cannot be appealed. Neither .SE’s judgments nor individual applications are made public. .SE will only make public information about the projects chosen for commission.

Who can apply?

Anyone can apply for funding from .SE’s Internet Fund. Both private individuals and organizations, e.g. associations, businesses and universities or places of higher education, are welcome to apply. Excluded from applying are those with a close connection to .SE. Support is favored towards projects running for a period of one year or less.

Type of projects

We particularly welcome applications from projects targeted at:

• development
• applied research
• knowledge exchange on the Internet and its usage
• or which in some other manner develop or use the Internet in an innovative way

Agreement terms and conditions

Projects accepted for funding from .SE’s Internet Fund enter into an agreement with .SE based on the Terms of agreement. These regulate, among other things, how and when the project shall be completed.
